Christmas 2008

Kylah's First Christmas

We have been busy, busy! We all just arrived back from a wonderful week in Carmel with the family, and it couldn't have been better. Kylah's first Christmas was great fun, and even though she won't remember it, we made it one to remember. We went on lots of adventures, and totally over-stimulated Ky, but she is such a trooper and always interested in an adventure. I have come to realize that she is an incredibly amazing baby! I know most parents say this about their children and that we are definitely biased, but she is such a happy, and easy-going baby.

We went on lots of adventures throughout the week including: walks, a graduation party, the aquarium, and of course shopping! We just started using a back-pack carrier instead of the Baby Bjorn, she was getting too heavy, and it really is wonderful. On the first walk we took when she was in the back-pack she quickly learned to fall asleep on my shoulder while using her hand as a little pillow. She really seems to prefer being worn, as opposed to pushed, but since she doesn't really fuss, it is mostly my opinion.

Kylah also had the privilege of wearing her great-great grandfather's christening gown. It is well over 100 years old, and unfortunately slightly ripped, but we got some great photos in it. My brother and I both wore it and now Kylah has as well.

At the tender age of 6 1/2 months she has now been to the aquarium twice, both times she seems to be more engaged with the people than the animals, but we love going all the same. Kylah has also been eating a lot of foods, and her new favorite are pears. In one sitting she managed to eat an entire jar, plus some oatmeal. Meal time has become great fun and she gets really excited as soon as she is in her high chair.

On our way back from Carmel we stopped in San Francisco at our friends Becky and Tony's in the city. They welcomed a new addition, Sebastien Michael, on December 16th. He is a gorgeous little boy, and even though he is nearly half a pound bigger than Kylah was at his age, I can't believe that she was ever that tiny. Kylah thought he was quite hilarious and was trying to grab, kick, and even lick him. I guess she doesn't quite get that concept that newborns are fragile! It was great visiting with them, but then I realized how much easier and almost 7 month old is compared to a 10 day old!

Kylah and Sebastien

She really is getting so big and beautiful, I can't believe that this little person is a part of my life! I am a better version of the old me, and each day brings new achievements, even if they are in the simple form of a new food, or a scoot across the floor. A lot of people say they can't really remember what life was like before having kids, I can remember, but it really didn't seem to have a point until now.

The Princess

Playing in her jumper!

This has been quite the week with both Kylah and myself having caught horrible colds. She is getting better and I am slowly on the mend. I still cannot talk, I lost my voice so completely that I can only whisper. Imagine how that is working out with a classroom full of 8th graders!

Kylah had her 6 month check-up and shots today and did awesome. She barely cried, but then again she never does; she will most likely have a melt down later tonight when she starts to run a fever from the vaccinations. She is officially 17 lbs. and 27 inches. I made the nurse check twice that she measured correctly, because according to that measurement she would have shrunk, but it was correct; the nurse said that the previous measurement was probably incorrect. When her doctor looked over her growth progress she said Kylah could be a poster child for breastfeeding as she has done so well and is incredibly healthy. That made me feel REALLY good, as the early days of breastfeeding were such a nightmare, and I almost gave up on countless occasions. Her doctor said that she expects her rapid growth to somewhat taper off in the 10th month, but who knows!

Kylah is such a healthy big girl we even upgraded to a bigger convertible car seat that will hopefully last her until she no longer needs a car seat. Though quite the expense, she is so much more comfortable in it and now sleeps in the car EVERY time. This is a big development as she used to scream and cry every time she was put into her old car seat, and then into the car.

Last time in her baby car seat!
She is such a little cutie I included a lot of pictures. I just can't help myself! She absolutely loves to play in her crib, she smiles the minute I put her in it, but sleeping in it is an entirely different thing! She is still glued to my side at night and only sleeps well if she is right in between Lance and I. I can't say that I mind as baby smiles are seriously the best thing in the world to wake up to!

She is such a goofball in the bath!

Loves bath time!!!

Nap-time with dada

We will keep updating as soon as possible because she really is changing every day.

Thanksgiving 2008

As promised I have the Thanksgiving pictures from our four wonderful days in Carmel. We really did have a wonderful time, as I am sure you can tell.

Kylah's First Thanksgiving

We were able to go to Dennis the Menace Park, where we spent much of our childhood, and play for a little while. Kylah experienced the swings for the first time, and she LOVED them! She was swinging back and forth for about 15 minutes. She would have kept going if we had not moved into the slides. She also enjoyed sliding down with Lance, but did look a little concerned when they first took off. I am sure we have many more memories to make at the park; this is simply the start of it all.

Almost 6 months old!

I can't believe that in only 4 short days my little one will be 6 months old! It seems like just yesterday that she was so teeny tiny and relied on me for everything. She is now eating a few different foods, yams are her favorite, and becoming more and more independent.

She can now sit up all by herself, but still wobbles and collapses on herself after about 5 minutes. Another huge development is that she is getting her first tooth! Everyone told me how horrible teething would be, but about a week ago she was chewing on my fingers as she always does and I felt her little tooth coming in. It is on the bottom right, and if she would hold still for long enough I will try to post a picture of it. The tooth is about half way out and is getting nice and sharp. Lets just hope she doesn't start biting.

Other than all of that she is still quite easy going and LOVES to be outside. We had a great time in Carmel for Thanksgiving. In true Cirimele fashion I forgot my camera, so as soon as I get the ones others took I can post those! She didn't get to partake in any Thanksgiving food, other than yams, but there is plenty of time for that.

I have included a few pictures, but need to post a lot more as she is getting so big so fast. I have no idea how she has gotten so big. As of 2 weeks ago she was 16 pounds and 28 1/2 inches. She is in the 98th percentile for her height, how did that happen? Maybe she will take after her daddy! After her 6 month check-up I will post with some more updated information!
